scraps & snaps
I am in the process of joining several of my favorite ideas, styles, and techniques to capture my favorite scraps and memories. I have begun with an old novel, this one has extra charm due to water damage which I just love. I have added to it my favorite papers, cut outs, and random found objects to give my book character, dimension and just plain fun. Below are just a few of my favorite pages. My process has only begun, each page has been decorated and now as I collect photos, scraps, random finds I will add them. I think I love the process more than the outcome.
from the scrapbook store, i don't want it to look so new.

Old Things
A few weeks ago Clinton and I made a visit to my favorite antique store. The place is so amazing, there are two floors of vintage clothing when you walk in the door. The sections are small, but stuffed and charming. Up the creaky wooden steps is a room "grandma's closet" where there are all sorts of inexpensive treasures. The items in that room need a little extra loving care, but I have found some lovely objects. The place is just wonderful.

9 degrees outside

An ode to the things that will help me through this 9 degree weather. It is so cold after 5 minutes outside my eye balls feel frozen. I plan to cuddle up with my book, this amazing green tea with brown rice, and take a relaxing bath. This honey soap from Lush is so fragrant, it is the best way to start the day (or end it)...

crickets and the dull hum in the kitchen
I am finding that my two favorite times of day are the silent moments early in the morning, and the late late night. Once the husband falls asleep on the couch and his movie is over (tonight it was the Invasion of The Body Snatchers) there is this amazing peace. All the cars have reached their destinations except a few wanderers, the neighbors have left their rolling chairs and video games, and the cat has given up on his milk rings. The only sounds that remain are the late night crickets, and the dull hum of the refrigerator. I think the refrigerator is trying to tell me to remove the near rotten fruit from it's belly, as soon as the guilt of wasting lifts I will do so.
I have a new batch of polymer clay flowers, and jewelry on its way. I have taken quite a bit of time lately working out the clay kinks and discovering the possibilities. I hope to create some unique pieces with this new found art, it is my instant gratification fix some days.
